Bringing in the Kingdom

One of the mysteries of the Kingdom is that it is an “Already” and at the same time a “not yet” reality. It is clear to most of us that we are not living in a world that is completely submitted to God’s rulership. We still experience pain, conflict, selfishness, greed, lust, the list goes on.

Some times such experiences can make us question whether there is any “Kingdom Here”. It can seem overwhelming that there is so much evil and bad in this world.

Here is something I’ve been thinking about. Sometimes with the message of Kingdom Here I think that I’m sitting back waiting for God to come through for me. To bring the blessing, or deliverance, or healing. I can’t do it, so I’m waiting for God to do so.

What if God’s plan for expanding His Kingdom is not restricted to what He is doing alone, but that He is waiting for people, men and women like yourself and myself, to understand that He is working through us?

In 2 Cor 5:20 Paul writes, “We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us.” We are carriers of God’s kingdom, and we are His ambassadors. We carry the message, the power, the values and culture of the Kingdom. We are a part of bringing Kingdom Here.
